Hi, there!

Welcome to Notes in My Drawer. I hope you enjoy your stay.

All About That GLOW

All About That GLOW

Alright ladies, here's the deal. If you've read this post, you know that my skin has always been a little less than perfect -- and that's putting it nicely. I've experienced great, flawless skin, and I've experienced pretty awful hormonal acne. It's been almost a year since I've experienced any bad breakouts, and I couldn't be more ecstatic.

If I'm being honest with you, I've always been envious of girls who have amazing, glowing skin. I really never thought that would be an option for me because I thought my acne prone skin would always be just that -- acne prone. Ironically enough, I actually have very dry skin. So that made the goal of having glowing skin seem even farther out of my reach.

I've already shared on my Instagram (shameless plug if you're not already following me, the link is at the top...) that one of my goals for 2018 (as vain as it may be, I'll admit) is to have glowing skin. I know that to achieve that goal it'll require not just putting good things onto my skin, but into my body as well.

This month, I want to share with you, every week, something different regarding my skincare. I'll be sharing DIY face masks with you all, my skincare routine, as well as specific products I've been using to help get that glow. Cuz let's be real, we all want that glow. I want to take you on this skincare journey with me and hopefully inspire some of you to join in with me.

These are two products I picked up this weekend. One is a serum from Valjean Labs that I've been using after I wash my face at night and in the morning. And the one on the left from Acure is an Argan oil I've been mixing in with my foundation. As the weeks progress, I'll be sharing my results with you and let you know if I've been seeing any changes or a lack thereof. It's all about trial and error, people.

One more thing I am super excited about sharing with you all - because I love it and because I've received soooo many questions about it -- is my micro-needling roller from Banish. I bought it a few months back, and was super pumped about starting it. However, I am lazy and have not remained consistent whatsoever.

Basically, what a micro-needling roller does is prick your skin with a bunch of tiny little needles (it does not hurt if you do it correctly, I promise). In doing that, it sends signals to your brain that tell it your skin is injured. Then your brain will send collagen to your skin, which eventually helps heal your textured acne scarring. (Clearly I'm no dermatologist, so this is just me paraphrasing here.)

There are several different micro-needling rollers on the market, with different needle sizes. Some are meant just to help your serums penetrate deeper into your skin. Other sizes are meant for people like me with deep acne scars.

I've been using my Banish roller more consistently, and I really am noticing a difference already. I'll be posting my results from week to week so you guys can see the difference it's making! If you're interested in getting your own Banish acne roller, click here. They have several amazing products to help your skin get to the place it needs to be! This isn't sponsored, I just love their products and have seen how much they have helped myself and others.

I'm so excited to be taking you all on this journey with me this month and this year! It will be interesting to look back this time next year and see where my skin was, and where it will be. It has been a long time coming, folks.

xoxo,

Tay
